A Vibrant Celebration of Art and Culture at ART JAKARTA

Art Jakarta 2024 concluded on 6 October, marking another successful edition of Indonesia’s premier art event. Held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, the three-day affair from 4 to 6 October captivated both seasoned collectors and art enthusiasts, with an impressive array of contemporary artworks from 73 local and international galleries.

This year’s event saw the introduction of a new Hall C1, which, alongside the previous Halls C3 and B3, provided a more spacious and comfortable viewing experience. The expanded layout not only improved visitor flow but also facilitated a rich programme of public discussions, screenings, and performances. Among the highlights were discussions with curators, screenings of Erwin Darmali’s The Mother of Indonesian Artists, and live performances by Matter Mos, adding a vibrant cultural backdrop to the event.

Art Jakarta 2024 attracted 38,268 visitors—a 7% increase from the previous year—reflecting the growing interest in contemporary art across Southeast Asia. Key presentations included Julius Baer’s exclusive exhibition by Indonesian artist Sunaryo, UOB Indonesia’s showcase of UOB Painting of the Year winners, and Bibit’s collaboration with the Rajut Kejut knitting collective. These exhibitions, along with interactive children’s workshops and large-scale installations, offered something for every art lover.

With its continued growth and diverse programming, Art Jakarta 2024 has once again cemented its place as a leading platform for contemporary art in the region. The event not only celebrates artistic excellence but also fosters dialogue, engagement, and inclusivity across Indonesia’s vibrant art community.
