Alia Noorayu Laksono Represent Indonesia
Alia Noorayu Laksono got the opportunity to represent Indonesia at the United Nations ECOSOC Youth Forum as Head of Delegation, which is one of the highest international forums. She had the opportunity to share with the Minister of Youth and Sports or his representatives from various countries about the importance of involving young people in the general election process and also for sustainable development.
Q: What’s your dream as Head of Delegation to represent Indonesia in the eyes of the world?
“To voice the best practices and challenges that Indonesian youth face in achieving the SDGs, I want Indonesia to be seen as a country that is youth friendly and really cares about encouraging its youth to take active roles. Indonesia has many programs to support the youth across various sectors.”
Q: What’s your voice when attended the United Nations ECOSOC Youth Forum, New York?
“My delegation emphasizes the importance of utilizing existing networks and platforms or initiating stronger exchange mechanisms for youth-led initiatives in the Asia Pacific.”
Q: What’s your hope for young people in the next 5 years?
“I hope young people will be more confident in representing Indonesia on the international stage, both in youth activities and sports, and use their passion and talents to make our nation proud. Young people must have the courage to break norms and create innovative breakthroughs so we can prove to others that we deserve a seat at the table. Hopefully, there will be more representatives of young people in government so that they can produce many policies and development programs to help other young people.”
