Embracing Destiny

Change can be daunting for many. Claudia Setyohadi felt this when she decided to pivot from her law background to the fashion and beauty industry. However, fueled with a belief that women are capable of achieving anything they set their minds to, Claudia successfully strode her way to becoming the successful fashion and beauty influencer also entrepreneur that she is today. “For me, women empowerment is about being able to determine our own choices, decisions, and destiny,” she states.

For Claudia, an empowered woman is someone who fully embraces her multifaceted capabilities. “Women can take all different roles in just one body. We can be a mother while also being an entrepreneur. we can do so many things all at once,” she notes. She learned this growing up as she looked up to her mother, Yulie Nasution, an artist and philanthropist to whom Claudia credits as a source of her strength and inspiration.

Throughout Claudia’s career change, Yulie stood by Claudia’s side, not only as a supportive figure but also as a source of challenge and motivation. “I had to prove to my mom that I could make it,” she said, describing her career’s early days as a “one-woman show”, where she did everything all by herself, from creating, directing, writing, and recording. In late 2023 she launched her shoe brand CLAU STUDIOS, and together with her mother Yulie and sister Dara, Claudia also runs two other businesses, Ekle’s Clinic x Yulindra Art Gallery and Cloud Salon de Beauté.

In addition to their entrepreneurial ventures, the three also established the non-profit organization Act Together. One of their proudest achievements is their participation in building Yayasan Cinta Yatim dan Duafa, an orphanage in Ciputat that houses orphans and underprivileged children.

Working closely with her mother and sister has taught Claudia invaluable lessons about determination and resilience. Her mother’s perseverance and dedication to contributing to society have particularly inspired her. “She never gives up,” Claudia shares. As she continues to grow her brand, expand her businesses, and give back through philanthropy, Claudia Setyohadi is a shining example that there are no limitations to what women can do.
