From Whole Foods to Whole Health
John Mackey, co-founder of Whole Foods, believes that our health is shaped by the daily choices we make, not just our genes. After selling Whole Foods to Amazon in 2017 and retiring in 2022, Mackey didn’t slow down. His latest venture, Love.Life, is a 45,000-square-foot wellness space in El Segundo, California, that combines nutrition, fitness, and medical care for a holistic approach to health.
Located near a Whole Foods, Love.Life is more than just a wellness center—it’s a community. Visitors can access everything from functional medicine to fitness trainers, with all professionals working together through shared software. The goal? To help people become the healthiest version of themselves.
Mackey, who practices a plant-based diet and mindfulness, discovered through testing at Love.Life that he has the APOE4 gene, predisposing him to Alzheimer’s and heart disease. This knowledge inspired him to adopt preventative health practices, a philosophy he extends to Love.Life’s members.
Whether it’s blood tests, personalized fitness plans, or lifestyle changes like meditation, Love.Life offers a comprehensive pathway to better health.
