Showcasing Innovation and Collaboration in Indonesia Design Week 2024

The 2024 Indonesia Design Week (IDW) launched in Jakarta to widespread acclaim, running from 10th to 20th October. This 10-day event served as a significant gathering for design professionals, industry experts, creative communities, and the general public, highlighting Indonesia’s ambition to be a thriving center for home and lifestyle design. Following the soft launch of the Indonesia Design Destination (IDD) in September 2023, IDW marked its grand debut, providing an ideal platform for collaboration and innovation.

IDW 2024 positioned itself as more than an exhibition; it was an interactive arena for meaningful dialogue and partnership. By bringing together industry professionals, designers, and artisans, IDW showcased the best of Indonesia’s creative potential and underscored the nation’s dedication to sustainable growth in design. A central feature of the event was its collaboration with notable curators, including Alvin Tjitrowirjo, founder of alvinT Studio, and Santi Alaysius, co-founder of Domisilium Studio. Both curators, celebrated for their unique contributions to design, added a layer of prestige and creative depth to the event.

Influential organisations such as the Indonesian Society of Interior Designers (HDII), the Indonesian Architects Association (IAI), the Indonesian Product Designers Association (ADPI), the Association of Graphic Designers (ADGI), and Visual Merchandising Indonesia (VMID) bolstered the event. Their involvement emphasized a shared commitment to raising Indonesian design standards and advancing long-term industry growth. Through IDW 2024, Jakarta positioned itself as a global design hub, fostering a forward-thinking approach to home and lifestyle solutions while honoring Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage.
